Keith Eric Martin born out of the state of Washington D.C.
Inspired by childhood friends Stacy Lattisaw, Johnny Gill, Bassist Oteil Burbridge, Prince, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5, George Duke, Andre Crouch, and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Keith started to pursue his passion for music. Keith picked up the drums at the age of 7. He then learned bass guitar and the keyboard at age the age of 14. By the age of 17, Keith was already doing studio session work as a bassist and vocalist. He then fell in love with the recording process and from there it was “no turning back.”
1985, Keith worked with Charlie Singleton of the funk rock band “Cameo” in Atlanta, GA. Charlie produced the band “Masquerade” for their first CD release. Keith was the lead vocalist, bassist and writer in the band.
1987, Keith worked as a bassist with gospel acts up and down the Washington D.C. Area.
1989, Keith worked as a producer, songwriter for local Washington D.C. acts like Kenny Lattimore, 2DExtreme, and Time II Jamm, as well as Night Flight Recording Studios.
1990, Keith was discovered by Linda and Louis McCall at a talent show in Washington D.C. and was signed under management.
1991, Keith moved to Fremont California where he met his partner Kendrick Washington from the R&B Group Special Generation / Keith and Kendrick studied under Music Producer / Song Writer / Arranger – Felton Pilate at Felstar Studios of the Group CON FUNK SHUN. Keith joined the “2 Legit 2 Quit” world tour as a back-up vocalist for MC Hammer. While on tour, Keith developed a collaboration with Boyz II Men’s Michael McCary and they started writing songs together.
1992, Keith settled in Los Angeles with his managers and started feeling his way around L.A. He started doing session work in the L.A. recording studios as a songwriter and session vocalist. Working with producer Ian Prince (Quincy Jones Back on the Block producer), Marty Sharon, Danny Sembello, Oji Pierce, Chuckii Booker, Darnell Spencer, Ralph Hawkins, Stevie B., Vassal Benford, Robert Palmer, and developing his production skills under Shavoni and Buster (Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, The Prince of Egypt soundtrack) Keith gave himself very strong roots.
1994, Keith headed back home to Washington D.C., and was contacted by Boyz II Men’s Michael McCary to join his production company in Philadelphia, PA as a songwriter and producer.
1995, Michael McCary landed Keith a record deal with Ruff House Columbia Records, and Keith began his first major CD project (as it was long over due) and began to get critical acclaim for his vocal and production work. Keith got his first single (I’ll Never Find Someone Like You) which got him worldwide recognition and his first solo tour with Aaliyah, as well as the vocal group Excape.
1996, Keith left Ruff House, and returned to L.A to work on more projects with Danny Sembello, Stevie B, and Oji pierce. He also went on tour with Johnny Gill as a background vocalist.
1997, Keith returned to the San Francisco Bay area to work with MC Hammer’s World Hit Record label as a producer, songwriter and artist. Keith shared production credits with MC Hammer on his family affair gospel project, and MC Hammer’s active duty project.
1998, Keith settled in Stockton, CA, and met his manager Ruben Harper. Linda Lou Mccall began working on a local compilation called Sounds of the New Millennium where Keith had credits as a songwriter and producer on 75% of the project.
1999, Keith began working on several independent solo projects under G-Music Entertainment.
2000, Keith started a solo project called Validated and started to embark on his new solo career.
2001, Keith settled in Tracy, CA and went back to work for MC Hammer’s newly formed World Hit Records as producer and songwriter. Hammer signed new young artists to his label. Keith, and production partner Charles Richards, produced over 50 songs for Hammer’s label.
2003, Keith returned to L.A. and began working on projects for Grammy Award winning, producer, songwriter Marty Sharon and Jesse Johnson (The Time).
2004, Keith was invited to perform in the Philippines. While there he signed a 2 CD deal with EMI Music and was widely received across the country. Keith produced projects for at least 14 local Philippine acts with the major labels there. He got his platinum plaque for the song, “Someone to Love” from the “Kyla, Not Your Ordinary Girl” CD.
2005, Keith toured the Philippines and Indonesia wowing his fans with his mega hit single “Because of You.”
2006, Keith was working as a producer, songwriter for Indonesian superstar Agnes Monica. Keith has production and songwriting credits on her 2 CD release “Whad Up A”, and a duet song with her called “I’ll Light a Candle.”
2007, Keith has a 3 CD project called “Let Me Take Control.” He produces, arranges and mixes his entire CD from home.
2008, Keith returned to the USA to embark on his most challenging project ever called “Sunrise, Watch Out!”
2009, Keith Martin returned back to the Philippines to continue the work he started. He was composing new music and producing up and coming new artists. Keith began to plan to take his music further throughout Asia and began to do composing for film and television. Keith stated, “God is not through with me yet, He is opening doors I never dreamed would open, so get ready the ride has just begun!”
2011, Keith released “This Road” a project Keith worked on in Asia, and the journey continued! The project includes a new single entitled, “You Are My Life,” which is quickly turning into a new wedding song for new couples around the world.
2012, Keith began a new relationship with VALF Records in Indonesia and began to work on his project entitled “Like Spring.” The 2012 projects include duets with Indonesian stars Marybeth, and Dira Sugundy. It also includes duets with new up and coming Indonesian artist Jessica Gitta and Singaporean artist Shun Ng. This year is a year of new and exciting things for Keith. One such thing is that he also releases a song where he sings in Bahasa Indonesian to the Indonesian market, a very new thing both for International Recording Artist Keith Eric Martin, as well as for the Indonesian music industry up to 2017.
