Currently based in Portland, OR, you can typically find Alex permanently attached to his headphones as he places music into advertisements, television shows, and movies at Marmoset Music – a full service music house that represents 600+ bands and artists for sync licensing & maintains a roster of 30+ composers for original music projects. Alex has most recently placed music into content for ubiquitous brands such as Google, Squarespace, and Gap, and communicates daily with creative agencies, production houses, TV networks, and filmmakers.
Prior to joining Marmoset, Alex worked as an assistant audio engineer at Another Country, an award-winning sound design studio in Chicago; he has assisted on over 2,000 voiceover, sound design, and mix sessions for prestigious brands like McDonald’s, Allstate, SC Johnson and many others. Outside of ads, Alex’s sound design and music editing work can be heard throughout films showcased at festivals like SXSW and Sundance — his work even appearing in an Oscar-nominated feature film.
Alex holds degrees in audio engineering from The DePaul University School of Music and sound design from The University of Edinburgh. When not living out his passion of crafting & curating sound to picture, you can catch Alex trying out new recipes in the kitchen, cruising the streets of Portland on his road bike, or failing miserably at bar trivia with a cheap beer in hand.
